Dance Showcase

Back to News Index

Trinity Academy, Thorne, played host to a celebration of dance featuring the talents of the region's young artistes.

Scores of dancers showcased moves and routines they had been practising for months.

Organised by Trinity dancer teacher Laura Hadwin, the two hour extravaganza entertained a packed audience of all ages.

Dance groups included students from Trinity Academy, the Green Top Cheerleaders, Bodyrockers, Dance Central Studio, Footloose, Fantasy Dance Academy, the Cheryl Jones Dance School, the Claire Anderson School of Dancing, the Green Top Street Dancers and Fifty/50.

Trinity Academy principal Ian Brew said: "Dance is a wonderful thing. When you dance you feel joy and freedom. This event takes an awful lot of hard work to set up and it just gets bigger and bigger and better and better."

Laura added: "All the dancers have worked extremely hard to reach this point and their routines were absolutely amazing before an audience which was incredibly appreciative.

"Dance is astonishingly good for you. It keeps you very fit and supple but is also good for your mind, for self-esteem and discipline. "

The event raised £400 for the academy's chosen charities of Bluebell Wood Children's Hospice, Cancer Research and Action Cambodia.
