Travel and Tourism

Here in the Travel and Tourism department, we are all keen travellers and even more keen on sharing our knowledge of this exciting industry with students at Trinity Academy.

Within this dynamic department, it is possible to study GCSE, BTEC and Applied AS and A2 courses, which cover a variety of different units from Customer Service to Resort Operations and from Employability Skills to Responsible Tourism.

Course Outline/ Overview

Key Stage 4

Applied GCSE Leisure and Tourism

This course contains 3 units as follows:

  • Investigating Leisure and Tourism (Exam)
  • Marketing in Leisure and Tourism (Coursework)
  • Customer Service in Leisure and Tourism (Coursework)

 

Post-16

 

BTEC First Travel and Tourism


This is a 6 unit course which is assessed through coursework alone and also allows the students to gain valuable work experience during a related placement.

The units of study are:

  • The UK Travel and Tourism Industry
  • Exploring Customer Services
  • UK Travel and Tourism Destinations
  • European Holiday Destinations
  • Exploring Marketing
  • Employability Skills

 

Applied AS and A2 Travel and Tourism


Offered as both Single and Double Award; this course comprises 6 or 12 units over the two years and allows students to study a range of subjects including Customer Service, Resort Operations, Special Interest Holidays and Current Issues in Travel and Tourism. The coursework is assessed in the majority through coursework with only one or two examinations in each year of study.
