Prom 2010

Back to News Index

More than 140 students from Year 11 at The King's Academy, Coulby Newham, arrived in stretch Hummers, limos, Aston Martins and vintage police cars, and dressed in sharp suits and glamorous gowns to celebrate the end of their GCSE exams.

Assistant Vice Principal Carey Brownless said: "This is our seventh prom and each year they get grander and grander.

"The prom is a great chance to show the Academy's appreciation of the commitment and dedication that our students have shown over the last five years.

"It's also the last chance for them all to get together before they go forward into sixth form, further education or employment.

"All of the students in Year 11 have been a real credit to the Academy and hopefully we will have more reasons to celebrate when they get their exam results later in the summer."

Student Daniel Webb, 16, of Linthorpe, who will be returning to The King's sixth form to study chemistry, biology, history and psychology, added: "This is the last time I'm with the whole year group so it is quite sad but it's great to be all together to celebrate the end of our exams."
