Les Allison

House Manager (Medes)

My role in the school is organisation of house competitions, supporting students in literacy, transporting staff and students on school visits, looking after students and general housekeeping of corridors. Before I took the job I was a police officer so I already have skills in communicating with people. I became a teaching support assistant in 2007.

In addition to my position I also assist in coaching rugby and football in after school when competitions allow. I also provide first aid assistance to both students and staff in the school.

Similar to when I was in the police force, I like to know whether I have successfully helped a student who is struggling with work. I think the staff are great at the Academy, they give me so much support and advice.

I think a big part of my job is being able to have empathy for others, especially students with special needs. I believe patience is a key factor needed in the Academy. All the students at the Academy bring great satisfaction to my job.
