Laura Finley

Teacher of BITE - 7-13 Key Stage 3

I am a newly qualified teacher that is ready to educate and bring out the best of pupils' abilities in the classroom. I am due to complete an extension course which has taken a year to master. I hope this will bring me new opportunities and better challenges so I have a greater involvement with pupils and colleagues.

I joined the Academy in 2008; I first heard of the school by the outstanding work it has produced over the years, how it has a great reputation for good grades and high standards.

I got to where I am today thanks to my colleagues. They helped me develop my passion and choose which path to walk down. Derek Waugh was a big part of how I got here; he provided help with anything and everything I needed. My mentor Sylvia Taylor also helped me along the way.

I know what is expected from the students so this makes me prepared to teach out of my comfort zone, supplying them with the very best education is my aim. I am very content at the Academy, as they manage to meet my requirements. Even though my expectations are high, if they are met it will be rewarded and acknowledged.

I enjoy taking children on school trips because they allow students to gain new experiences out the classroom. All students at The King's are able to express themselves, which I see as an essential part of learning.
