YEAR 7 SIGN OFF IN STYLE
The Year 8 boys found the going tough but there were fine victories in the 1500m, triple jump and discus for Stephen Creed, Ben Gibson and Connor Anderson. They finished in 4th place overall.
The Year 7 boys have trained hard all year but were yet to bring home a trophy in any sport. This was their last chance. With emphatic wins for Adam Sewell in the 100m and shot, and Niall Vitty in the 400m things were looking good. Ryan Lemmon threw over 20m to win the javelin and a number of second places were gained. As the boys lined up for the relay against the other nine schools in Gateshead they were in confident mood. Many hours of practice had gone into the relay and the team's first change over would have graced any Olympic final, and after that it all went to plan. Even in a strong wind on a grass track the boys won by a long way and smashed the 17 year old College record of 57.8, clocking 57.2. Minutes later they were crowned District Champions, 12 points clear of Ryton. Finally, a much deserved reward for the year 7 boys who have worked so hard this year, and surely a sign of successes to come.
